Veracruz Aquarium

The eighth most visited aquarium in the world opened its doors in 1992 to quickly become an emblem of modernity of the Port of Veracruz. It is also the largest oceanic fish tank in Latin America and it contains one of the most complete collections of aquatic organisms, from fresh waters as well as marine in different ecosystems. The aquariums task is not only a recreational; it also contributes widely with research and preservation worldwide. Do not miss it!

Ruiz Cortines Ecological Park

This former baseball park was dismantled and recovered to gain greenery within the city downtown. It is divided in sections, one of which hosts a great deal of plants and animals from the region, in the ponds there are fish feeding in a natural way. Another section has jogging paths, gym and special events' area like dogs exhibits and conferences. The park constitutes a traditional picnic for locals and an obliged stop for visitors.

M. A. de Quevedo Zoo and Botanical Park

It contains a great variety of animal and plant species from the area, besides African lions which are very popular guests. Within the premises there is also a championship pool, a lake with canoes and lush green areas. During your visit you can try a ride on the authentic 19th century train, brought from the Mexican mining highlands. Jalcomulco and Actopan

These two municipios (Counties) feature spectacular rapids and dense rainforest where rafting, canopy, rappel, hiking and gotcha are practiced. They also offer state of the art ecological tourist facilities, comfortable and attractive, that will allow you to enjoy a revitalizing contact with nature at its best. Both places could make up for a fun day trip or an exciting weekend. From the Port of Veracruz, Jalcomulco is one hour northeast and Actopan is one hour north.
