Eco and Nature Theme Parks Riviera Maya

The Riviera Maya has several of the world's finest natural parks.

Just 5 minutes south of Playa del Carmen is Xcaret, an immense area with ocean beaches, natural lagoons, tropical jungle, and much more! Your entrance fee includes over two dozen activities including snorkeling the underground river, exploring the archeological sites, and self-guided tours of the butterfly house, turtle sanctuary, aquarium, Jaguar & Puma Islands, the orchid conservatory, a famous Mayan cultural show each evening, and much more. For an additional fee, you can add activities such as swimming with dolphins, horseback riding, and scuba diving.

More about theme Parks Explore the natural wonders of Xel-Ha, located 10 minutes north of Tulum.
Here fresh waters from underground rivers meet the ocean, creating an inlet with one of the richest underwater habitats on earth.
In addition to this natural Aquarium, at Xel-Ha you can float downriver, investigate underwater caves, visit the archeological site, enjoy snorkeling or scuba, swim with dolphins, get a massage, take an eco tour of the park, or explore the beautiful grounds on your own. It’s definitely an all day activity.

Also located just north of Tulum is Aktun Chen Park where three caves with a cenote, or underground river, provide an up-close look at the vast cave systems in the area.
Other cave and cenote parks in the Riviera Maya include Kantun Chi and Hidden Worlds Cenote Park.

Riviera Maya Biosphere Reserve

The Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve begins at the southernmost end of the Riviera Maya.
This protected area covers over 1 million acres of habitat including jungle, ocean, and shoreline.
It is home to hundreds of different bird species as well as many of the regions other types of animals.

The Biosphere faces the greatest challenge of conservation!
"Sian Ka'an" is translated from Mayan as "where the sky is born" or "gift from the sky". Located on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, this biosphere reserve contains tropical forests, mangroves and marshes, as well as a large marine section intersected by a barrier reef.
You will go by boat searching for wild bottle nose dolphins (charismatic and interesting animals) and then look for caguama and white turtle; bird watching is also very popular: you will have the opportunity to see these birds during mating season and nesting. Species include the pelican, cormorant, flamingo, spoon bill, eagles, parrots and herons.

Riviera Maya Water Sports

The Riveria Maya has many other water activities as diving and snorkeling.
Snorkeling is one of the easiest, safest and most delightful ways to explore the aquatic wilderness. If you cannot swim, no worries. Once in the water, you will never want to get out!
Many people come to the Riviera Maya to dive the Great Mayan Reef, and it's no wonder, with crystal clear water and all the beautiful coral and diverse aquatic life. But there is much more to do in the Riviera Maya!

The majority of the communities and resort locations are along the beautiful waters and beaches of the Caribbean, and there are hundreds of places that provide equipment and opportunities for water activities such as kayaking, sailing, fishing, jet skiing.
