Acapulco Shopping
Shops and Store of Acapulco Mexico
There are better places than Acapulco to buy Mexican crafts.
However, Acapulco, Mexico does have a few interesting shops.
The Costera is lined with places to buy:
- Tourist souvenirs, including silver jewelry
- Mexican knickknacks
- The ubiquitous T-shirt
The shopkeepers are not pushy. But they will test visitors’ bargaining power. The starting price will be high. Reducing it may take some time.
SHOPPING TIP - Examine silver carefully before buying. Look for ".925" mark stamped on the back. This should indicate the 92.5% purity of the silver. But the less expensive silver metal called "alpaca" may also have this mark. (Alpaca is generally stamped MEXICO or MEX. The letters are so tiny that they are hard to read and look similar to the three-digit mark ".925").
Opening Hours: daily from 9 am to 6 pm
Acapulco also has a Sam's Club and a Wal-Mart. These are located on the inland side of the main highway just before it rises towards Las Brisas.
