Isla Mujeres Beaches
Isla Mujeres North Beach
The most popular Isla Mujeres beach is also called Playa Cocoteros ("Cocos," for short), or Playa Norte (Isla Mujeres North Beach).
This extended stretch of beach winds around the northern tip of Isla Mujeres.
It is located to the left on disembarking from the boat.
Playa Norte is an exquisite beach that features:
- A broad stretch of fine white sand
- Calm, clear, blue-green water
Note that on Isla Mujeres topless sunbathing is permitted.
How to get there: Playa Norte is easily reached on foot from the ferry and from all downtown Isla Mujeres hotels
Visitors can rent:
- Water sports equipment
- Beach umbrellas
- Lounge chairs (those in front of restaurants usually cost nothing for visitors who eat and drink there)
El Garrafón Natural Park Isla Mujeres
El Garrafón Natural Park is best known for Isla Mujeres snorkeling.
However, there is a pleasant stretch of beach located on either side of the park.
Isla Mujeres, Playa Lancheros
Location: on the Caribbean side of Laguna Makax
How to get there: by local buses, which run to Lancheros then turn inland and finally go back downtown
Playa Lancheros has a nice beach, but expensive restaurants.
