In Isla Mujeres El Garrafón is a piece of living sculpture. It is part of the longest reef in the northern hemisphere. It is also an example of an ecosystem supporting more endangered species than any other ecosystem on Earth.
The gentle current makes swimming and snorkeling easy.

Contoy Island is uninhabited.
It is a bird sanctuary for large nesting colonies and wild frigates. Isla Contoy is a marvellous way to enjoy nature’s beauty.

Isla Mujeres Mundaca Pirate's Fortress
Mundaca Pirate's Fortress on Isla Mujeres was built by a retired pirate. His name was Mundaca Marecheaga.
At one time, this fortress covered nearly forty percent of Isla Mujeres.
During its heyday in the early 19th century, the pirate’s fortress was surrounded by beautiful gardens. Marecheaga organized a peaceful paradise in an attractive, shady place. He also made money by selling slaves to Cuba and Belize.
Isla Mujeres Turtle Farm
The Turtle Farm is one of most interesting Isla Mujeres attractions. It is an ancient nesting area for giant sea turtles. From May to September each year, the turtles deposit their eggs in the soft sand until they hatch. The giant sea turtle is federally protected. For many years, these turtles were killed for their meat and shells. At the Turtle Farm, the turtles are protected. Newly-hatched turtles are put into tanks. Then they are released into the sea by local schoolchildren.
Isla Mujeres Dolphin Discovery
At Dolphin Discovery on Isla Mujeres, visitors can swim with dolphins. It is the experience of a lifetime!
This amazing educational experience is safe and fun for all swimmers.
