Isla Mujeres weather and tourist Seasons

The tourist season in Isla Mujeres (when hotel rates are higher) is a little different from that in other locations in Mexico.

High season: December through May, a month longer than in Cancún

Low season: from June to mid-November

Note that some hotels increase their rates in August, and some increase their rates starting in mid-November.

Isla Mujeres Currency Exchange

On Isla Mujeres, there are three main ways to exchange currency:

1. At the many casas de cambio (money exchanges), which are easily found along the main streets.
2. At most of the hotels, although often the exchange rates are less favorable than the commercial businesses.
3. At the only bank in Isla, HSBC Bank, located across from the ferry docks.

Location: on Avenida Rueda Medina at Ojón P. Blanco, less than a kilometer (1/2 mile) south of the town center

Location: on Avenida Guerrero, a block before the Malecón begins.
