Huatulco, Mexico contains nine bays which feed into one another.
Until the early 1980's, Huatulco was an isolated fishing village. It was accessible only by a dirt path. There was no water or electricity. The terrain is formed by the rugged Sierra Madre del Sur.
The Sierra Madre del Sur borders the Pacific to create sandy coves.

In 1983, the first luxury hotels in Huatulco and a six-lane road network were built in Huatulco, Mexico. They were soon followed by an airport, golf course, and marina. But Huatulco is still delightfully undeveloped. At present, Huatulco has three planned bays:

  • Tangolunda, the most exclusive
  • Chahue, still developing
  • Santa Cruz, whose amenities are centered around the marina
